Favorites allow you to bookmark websites so you can access them without having to search or type in a web address. Access your Favorite Places by clicking the Favorites button in the upper right-hand corner of CompuServe Gold.

Save a Favorite Place

  1. Go to the site you want to make a Favorite.
  2. In the upper-right corner of the window, click the heart iconfavorite button icon
  3. Click Add to Favorites
  4. Click a folder to store it in

Organize your Favorites list

Organize your Favorite Places by creating folders and grouping them in to the folders.

Create a new folder in your Favorite Places

  1. Click the Favorite Places button.
  2. Click New.
  3. Select New Folder.
  4. Enter the New Folder's name | Click OK.

Edit a Favorite's folder's name

  1. Click the Favorite Places button.
  2. Select the folder that you want to edit.
  3. Click Edit.
  4. Enter a new name for the folder
  5. ClickEnter

Move an item to a different Favorites folder

  1. Click the Favorite Places button.
  2. Open the folder that contains the Favorite you want to move.
  3. Click and drag the favorites heart icon User-added image to the desired folder.

Delete a Favorite Place in your list

Tip icon.To delete multiple Favorites at once, hold down the Ctrl key and click the bookmarks you want to delete.

1. Click the Favorite Places button.
2. Click the folder or Favorite Place that you want to delete.
3. Click Delete.
4. Click Yes when prompted to confirm the action.

Make a backup copy of your Favorites

  1. Open the Favorite Places window.
  2. Click Manage at the bottom of the window.
  3. Under "Save My Favorite Places as a Favorites File on my Computer," click Save
  4. Navigate to the place where you wish to save the file, and click Save.

Search for a Favorite Place in your list

If you can't find a Favorite place, search for it in your Favorite Places list.

  1. Click the Favorite Places button.
  2. Enter the name of the Favorite Place in to Quick Find. Results will auto-populate as you type.
  3. Double-click a result

My Favorite Places are missing from my list

Your Favorite Places are automatically synchronized between your AOL Desktop client and the AOL servers. This means that your Favorites automatically go with you to any AOL Desktop client you use. If you're unable to see your Favorites, check your connectivity, webmail, or reinstall CompuServe Gold.

1. Check connectivity - Check that you're connected to the internet with your broadband connection by trying to access a few websites. If you're able to access the websites, you're connected to the internet. If you have issues accessing websites, then you may have an issue with your broadband connection. Our help article, Troubleshooting a Broadband Connection, provides some useful troubleshooting tips. If you're still unable to connect, please contact your broadband provider for assistance.
2. Check the Webmail - If your internet connection works as intended, sign in with your username and password. Once signed in, check your Favorite Places. If you see your contacts here, sign out of CompuServe Gold and sign back in. If the problems persist, refer to the solution below.
3. Uninstall and reinstall CompuServe Gold - Review our help article to uninstall and reinstall CompuServe Gold.

Edit a Favorite Place's name or web address

  1. Click the Favorite Places button.
  2. Select the item that you want to change.
  3. Click Edit.
  4. Enter a new name for the Favorite Place and/or update its Address.
  5. Click OK.

Replace or add to your Favorites from another Username or backup

Tip icon.You can also transfer or share your Favorites list with another AOL user.

1. Open the Favorite Places window.
2. Click Manage.
3. Select one of the following:

  • Replace: Use this to replace your current Favorites with your backup copy or Favorites from your other Username.
  • Append: Use this option to add to your existing list with your backup copy or Favorites from your other Username.
4. Navigate to the Favorites file that you saved, click the file to highlight it, and then click Open.
5. Close the Favorite Places window.
