Accessing CompuServe Mail using a third-party email client requires manual configuration using supported CompuServe mail servers and port numbers. Only use the CompuServe-supported servers and port numbers listed below when configuring mail settings.

If you connect with mail.aol.com or the AOL app, you DO NOT need to make any changes to your settings.

Step 1: Find the IMAP/POP server and port settings in your email application.

These settings can usually be found under an account settings menu in your application. If you can’t find your settings, see the "More help with common email clients" section of this article.

Step 2: Update your server and port settings and save your changes.

If you update your settings and can't retrieve your mail or encounter an error, check your username. It should be your full email address, including @cs.com or @compuserve.com.

Your email client might prompt you to select either IMAP or POP3. Read our "What is the difference between POP3 and IMAP?" help article to learn about the differences between IMAP and POP3. If you decide to change your configuration from POP3 to IMAP, save or back up your email to avoid potential loss during the transition.
