Create and manage folders
Never wonder where important emails are again. Creating and managing folders can help keep everything in its place.
Create a folder in CompuServe Gold Mail
1. Launch CompuServe Gold.
2. Sign on with your username and password.
3. Click the Read icon at the top of the window.
4. On the left side of the screen, select where to put your folder (Saved on AOL or Saved on my PC).
5. Click Manage Folders.
6. Select Create Folder.
7. Type in a folder name.
8. Click Save.
Save emails in the Saved on my PC folders
The emails saved in your Saved on My PC folder will only be accessible on the computer where the folder was saved. If you’re using the AOL software on a different computer, you won’t be able to access these emails.
1. Launch CompuServe Gold.
2. Sign on with your username and password.
3. Click the Read icon at the top of the window.
4. Double-click the email you want to save.
5. Click the Save drop-down.
6. Select On My PC and choose a folder.
7. Click OK.
Save emails in the saved On AOL folder
If you’re always on the go or use CompuServe Gold on multiple computers, you can store email messages in the online folder called the Saved on AOL folder. This folder can be accessed from any computer and can store a total of 1 TB of data.
1. Launch CompuServe Gold.
2. Sign on with your username and password.
3. Click the Read icon at the top of the window.
4. Double-click the email you want to save.
5. Click the Save drop-down.
6. Select On AOL and choose a folder.
7. Click OK.
Save an email as a draft to send later
Draft emails are saved on the AOL Cloud so they can be edited and sent when you're ready.
1. Launch CompuServe Gold.
2. Sign on with your username and password.
3. Click the Write icon at the top of the window.
4. To save as a draft, click the Send Later icon .
5. The draft email is available in your Drafts folder.
Store contacts in your Address Book
Your Address Book keeps track of email addresses, phone numbers, mailing addresses, birthdays, and more. The Address Book also allows you to create categories and groups for your contacts.
Add, edit, or delete a contact
1. Launch CompuServe Gold.
2. Sign on with your username and password.
3. In the top menu bar, click Mail | Address Book.
4. Click Add to add a contact or highlight an existing contact and click Edit or Delete.
Add or create a category
Create different categories for your contacts such as family, business contacts, and friends.
1. Launch CompuServe Gold.
2. Sign on with your username and password.
3. In the top menu bar, click Mail | Address Book.
4. Highlight a contact and click Edit.
5. From the Category drop-down, select a category or click Add New.
Create or add contacts to a Group
Create a specialized Group to send an email to a specific group of people.
1. Launch CompuServe Gold.
2. Sign on with your username and password.
3. In the top menu bar, click Mail | Address Book.
4. In the left menu, highlight Groups or an existing Group.
5. Click Group Options.
6. Click Edit Group or Add Group.
Copy or blind copy an address book contact in an email
If you want to send an email to someone and copy/blind copy it to other people, you can highlight the contact name(s) of the secondary recipients and click Cc or Bcc to place their email addresses in the respective fields.
Add or remove recipients from an email
Manually type-in email recipients or add them using your Address Book. An Address Book contact must have a 'primary email addresss in order to add it from the Address Book.
Add email recipients to an email
1. Launch CompuServe Gold.
2. Sign on with your username and password.
3. Click the Write icon at the top of the window.
4. In the To: field start typing an email address and select it from the drop-down or click the Address Book icon .
5. From the Address Book, select contacts and click Send Mail.
6. Close the Address Book.
Note: To remove a contact, click the x icon next to their email.
Cc and Bcc email recipients
Adding a carbon copy (Cc) and/or blind carbon copy (Bcc) to your email is a great way to loop-in contacts that aren't your email's main audience but still need to have the info. Both Cc and Bcc will forward a copy of the message to those listed but Bcc is used for contacts that you want to hide. No one sees who's in the Bcc list beside you.
1. Launch CompuServe Gold.
2. Sign on with your username and password.
3. Click the Write icon at the top of the window.
4. Click in the Cc field (or click the Bcc button) and start typing an email address and select it from the drop-down or click the Address Book icon .
5. From the Address Book, select a contact(s) and click Cc or Bcc.
6. Close the Address Book.
Change your font or email format, add hyperlinks, and more
Use the editor menu to change your font, font color, add hyperlinks, images and more.
1. Launch CompuServe Gold.
2. Sign on with your username and password.
3. Click the Write icon at the top of the window.
4. Click a button or its drop-down arrow (from left to right):
• Select a font.
• Change font size.
• Bold font.
• Italicize font.
• Underline words.
• Chose a text color.
• Chose a background text color.
• Change your emails format.
• Add emoticons.
• Find and replace text, clear formatting, or add the time.
• Insert a saved image.
• Insert a hyperlink.
Add images and attachments to your email
Send up to 15 Megabytes of attached files in one email.
1. Launch CompuServe Gold.
2. Sign on with your username and password.
3. Click the Write icon at the top of the window.
4. Click Attach File to select a file or drag and drop a file into the email compose area.
Fix spelling errors while composing an email
CompuServe Gold automatically spell checks your spelling as you write an email. When a spelling error is detected, the word is highlighted by a red line under it. To correct the spelling error, right-click the word and select one of the options provided.
